Hull Sporting Club produced a controlled home performance, with Oliver Read’s hat-trick helping the Reds secure a clean-sheet victory at Pelican Park Playing Fields.

Hull Sporting Club returned to league action in commanding fashion as the Reds secured a 5-0 victory over Gilberdyke Phoenix FC Reserves at Pelican Park Playing Fields.

After the drama of the club’s first ever cup match, Hull SC produced exactly the kind of response required. They were controlled, disciplined and clinical when the chances arrived.

Captain Oliver Read opened the scoring in the 20th minute, giving Hull SC a deserved lead after a positive start. Five minutes later, Read struck again to double the advantage and put the Reds firmly in control of the contest.

Hull SC continued to manage the game well, moving the ball with purpose and limiting Gilberdyke Phoenix FC Reserves to very little in front of goal. Sam O’Malley added a third in the 38th minute, giving the home side a strong platform heading into the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Hull SC maintaining control and continuing to search for more. Read completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute, capping off an excellent captain’s performance and underlining his influence on the match.

After the cup game, the response was exactly what we wanted. The players showed discipline, quality and maturity, and keeping a clean sheet while scoring five is a strong statement from the group.

Hull SC Manager

David Blake added the fifth in the 76th minute, sealing a professional home win and adding to what was already a dominant team display.

Just as important as the goals was the clean sheet. Hull SC showed greater defensive control, game management and concentration throughout, ensuring Gilberdyke were kept off the scoresheet.

Read’s hat-trick, combined with goals from O’Malley and Blake, gave the Reds a strong attacking return, but the performance was built on balance across the pitch.

The result gave Hull Sporting Club a positive response in the league and another important step forward as the squad continued to build rhythm, standards and confidence.
