Goals from Callum Bamforth, Jacob Bennett, Jordan Clayton and Aaron Gouldthorpe were not enough for Hull SC as Aldbrough United AFC battled back to earn a 4-4 draw.

Hull Sporting Club were held to a 4-4 draw by Aldbrough United AFC in an entertaining East Riding County League Division 4 fixture at Pelican Park Playing Fields.

The Reds made a strong start and took the lead in the sixth minute through Callum Bamforth, who finished well to give Hull SC early control of the match.

Aldbrough responded in the 14th minute through Lewis Harrison, bringing the visitors level and shifting the momentum back into a more open contest.

Hull SC regained the advantage in the 22nd minute, with Jacob Bennett finding the net to put the home side back in front.

The visitors answered again seven minutes later through Jack Morrill, making it 2-2 and continuing the back-and-forth pattern of the first half.

Hull SC struck once more before the break as Jordan Clayton scored in the 39th minute, giving the Reds a 3-2 lead heading into half-time.

There was a lot of attacking quality in the game, but we have to be better at controlling momentum after we score. The players kept fighting, but when you score four at home, you want to see the game through. It is another lesson for the group.

The second half remained competitive, and Aldbrough found another equaliser in the 63rd minute through James Oglesby, putting pressure back on Hull SC.

The Reds responded with character. Captain Aaron Gouldthorpe stepped up in the 78th minute to restore Hull SC’s lead and put the home side in position to see out the match.

But Aldbrough refused to go away and struck again in the 85th minute through Alex Foston, ensuring the points were shared after an eight-goal contest.

For Hull SC, it was a match that showed attacking quality and resilience, but also the need to manage key moments better after taking the lead.

The result was a frustrating one for the Reds, who scored four at home but were unable to turn their attacking performance into all three points.
