Hull SC started strongly, responded to Holme Rovers’ fightback, and produced a ruthless second-half attacking display to secure another home league win.

Hull Sporting Club continued their league campaign with an entertaining 7-3 victory over Holme Rovers Development at Pelican Park Playing Fields.

The Reds made the perfect start, with Jordan Clayton opening the scoring inside the second minute to give Hull SC early control of the contest.

Sam O’Malley doubled the advantage in the 12th minute, before adding his second just six minutes later as Hull SC raced into a commanding 3-0 lead.

Holme Rovers Development responded before half-time through William Gant in the 32nd minute, reducing the deficit and giving the visitors a foothold in the match.

The away side then struck again shortly after the restart, with William Kirkup scoring in the 46th minute to make it 3-2 and put pressure back on Hull SC.

But the Reds answered with authority. Clayton restored breathing room in the 50th minute, before Callum Bamforth struck twice in quick succession in the 52nd and 53rd minutes to put Hull SC firmly back in control.

The start was excellent, but the important part was the reaction after they came back into it. We showed quality, stayed calm and then took control again with a strong second-half response.

Bamforth completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute, capping off an excellent second-half display and giving Hull SC a decisive 7-2 lead.

Holme Rovers Development pulled one back late through William Pearson in the 88th minute, but the result was already secure as Hull SC saw out another strong home victory.

The performance showed Hull SC’s attacking quality, but also their ability to respond when momentum shifted. After Holme Rovers fought back either side of half-time, the Reds stayed composed and produced a ruthless spell to take the game away from the visitors.

Bamforth’s hat-trick was the headline contribution, while O’Malley and Clayton both scored twice in another strong attacking performance from the group.

For Hull SC, it was another important league result and another sign of the team’s growing confidence, standards and firepower at Pelican Park Playing Fields.
